What to Ask a Supplement Manufacturer Before a Wholesale Order

A wholesale supplement order is more than a product price. A reliable conversation should clarify the product direction, documentation, packaging, order planning and delivery route before anyone commits to a purchase.

The questions below are designed for distributors, importers, retailers and e-commerce sellers comparing a supplement partner for a specific market.

1. Which products and formats fit the market?

Start with the customer and sales channel. Ask whether the supplier can discuss the formats that fit your market, such as capsules, softgels, powders, liquid drops or gummies. Then narrow the conversation to the ingredients, serving format, pack size and positioning that your customers can understand.

2. What information is available for product review?

Ask which product information and quality documents can be shared for the specific product and destination. Depending on the market and product, buyers may need a specification, ingredient information, a certificate of analysis, allergen details, stability or storage guidance, and other documents requested by local authorities or the importing partner.

Do not assume that one document set applies to every formula or country. The supplier should confirm availability for the actual product and destination.

3. How will packaging and labels be planned?

Clarify whether the order uses existing ITAWEL packaging, market-specific labels or another approved packaging route. Discuss label language, mandatory statements, barcode requirements, serving information, warnings, packaging materials and artwork approval.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides general dietary supplement information for businesses and consumers. Local requirements can differ, so the importing business should confirm the rules that apply in its destination market.

4. How are price, quantity and lead time confirmed?

Ask for a written reference based on the actual product, quantity, packaging, destination and shipping method. A supplier may quote differently for a sample, a small wholesale order and a larger shipment.

Also ask what must be confirmed before production starts, what happens if packaging artwork changes, and when the estimated preparation window begins. Avoid relying on a generic delivery promise that does not include the order details.

5. Which shipping routes are available?

Discuss express, air and sea freight where relevant, and ask what information the supplier needs to estimate transit. Confirm whether the quote includes delivery to a warehouse, fulfilment centre, port or another named destination. Clarify who handles customs documentation and which charges remain the buyer's responsibility.

6. What happens after the first inquiry?

A good process should have a clear next step: product shortlist, sample discussion, quotation, packaging review or a market call. Ask who will own the conversation and which information should be included in the first brief.
