Saffron is a culinary spice with flower compounds that are also being studied in concentrated extracts. People often search for it when they want support for mood or sleep. The honest answer is encouraging but limited: small trials and reviews show signals, while product, dose and population differences remain important.
What the sleep research found
A 2023 systematic review identified five randomized clinical trials with 379 participants. The authors reported initial support for sleep duration or quality and also emphasized the limited number of studies. This is a useful starting point, not a guarantee that a dropper serving will act like every standardized extract in the review.
What the mood research found
In a six-week randomized, double-blind study, 62 recreationally active adults received 28 mg per day of a standardized saffron extract or placebo. Researchers measured mood and physical outcomes. Other meta-analyses have examined depression symptoms, but those findings should not be turned into a promise to treat depression.
Read the extract label
ITAWEL Saffron Extract Liquid Drops list 117 mg saffron extract per 2 mL serving and show a 0.3 percent safranal standardization in the product materials. The 60 mL liquid format may suit people who prefer drops, but the label amount is not automatically equivalent to the doses used in every study. For market or range questions, contact the ITAWEL distributor team.
Make the routine practical
Use the labeled serving, keep the bottle closed and judge the product over a realistic period rather than after one dose. Pair it with regular sleep timing and seek professional help for persistent low mood, anxiety or insomnia. A supplement should not replace a mental-health care plan.
Safety
Ask a qualified healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or nursing, take antidepressants or medication that affects bleeding, have a medical condition or are preparing for surgery. Stop if an unexpected reaction occurs.
